Con il comunicato stampa di seguito allegato, MSI ha annunciato ufficialmente la scheda grafica Radeon R4890 Cyclone OC. Basata sul processore grafico HD 4890 di ATI, che include 800 stream processor e opera ad una frequenza di clock pari a 880MHz, la nuova video card è equipaggiata con 1GB di RAM G-DDR5 a 3900MHz mentre il bus di collegamento tra il core grafico e i chip di RAM è a 256-bit.

Il punto di forza di questa scheda grafica è rappresentato senza dubbio dal sistema di raffreddamento, che abbina una ampia e silenziosa ventola da 10cm ad heat pipe da 8cm (SuperPipe). Inoltre, è di ottimo livello la qualità della componentistica, che include condensatori ad alta capacità (Hi-c CAP), condensatori a stato solito e a lunga durata e induttori a stato solido o SSC (Solid State Chock).

Entrambi questi aspetti contribuisco a stabilizzare l'operatività dell'hardware anche in condizioni estreme (essendo sovradimensionati il sistema di raffreddamento e lo stadio di alimentazione, ndr), ovvero in regime di overclock spinto: in accordo ad MSI, questa card supera la barriera del GHz, in termini di frequenza di clock della gpu, rappresentando così la soluzione top performer tra le Radeon a gpu singola.

Cyclone Thermal Design
