Sapphire Technology annuncia il lancio della nuova scheda video HD 7870XT with Boost. Come le altre schede video della serie 7000 anche questa è stata progettata sulla base dell'acclamata e premiata architettura di AMD Graphics Core Next (GCN). La scheda HD7870 XT with Boost introduce un nuovo livello prezzo-prestazioni nell'offerta di schede video a marchio Sapphire.

Basata sull'architettura Tahiti ha un interfaccia memoria a 256 bit , 1536 stream processors e 96 unità di texture. E' la prima scheda della famiglia 7800 che non adotta l'architettura Pitcairn ma che sceglie invece l'architettura Tahiti destinata fino ad oggi alla fascia superiore (HD 7900) garantendo così prestazioni eccelse ad un prezzo non pensabile in precedenza. Equipaggiata con 2GB di velocissima memoria GDDR5 a 1500@mhz ( 6ghz effettivi) la Sapphire HD 7870 XT ha un clock GPU a 925mhz che dinamicamente sale a 975mhz grazie al powertune boost di AMD

Questo nuovo modello integra molte delle nuove tecnologie messe a disposizione dai prodotti Sapphire: Ottimo raffreddamento grazie a "Dual-X cooler Technology" che garantisce la massima efficienza e il minimo rumore. Dual link DVI-I (supporto VGA tramite adattatore in dotazione nella confezione) , HDMI e due porte mini-DisplayPorts garantiscono un'ampia gamma di configurazioni possibili sia con i vecchi che i nuovi monitor LCD. Inoltre viene dato pieno supporto alla tecnologia multi-monitor Eyefinity di Sapphire.

L'ultimissima versione del tool di Sapphire TriXX per OverClocking permette agli utenti più esigenti di massimizzare le prestazioni come mai prima. Questo strumento è scaricabile liberamente dal sito di Sapphire . L'utility TriXX permette il settaggio del voltaggio della GPU, completa gestione della frequenza sia della memoria che del core grafico, visualizzazione immediata della temperatura via via che le frequenze aumentano. Controllo manuale della velocità delle ventole con la possibilità di creare fino a quattro profili personalizzati per le proprie esigenze prestazionali.

La serie HD 7000 è la terza generazione di soluzioni grafiche DirectX 11. Per completezza di informazione Sapphire HD 7870 XT è pienamente compatibile con le DirectX 11.1 e il sistema operativo Windows 8. E' Ovviamente capace di supportare tutte le caratteristiche tipiche delle DirectX 11 come DirectCompute11 e la comunicazione Multi-Thread con la CPU. La comunicazione con la scheda madre e il resto del computer è garantita dall'implementazione della più recente tecnologia PCI-Express 3.0 . Viene inoltre confermato, per futuri incrementi prestazionali 3D, il supporto alla tecnologia CrossFireX sulle schede madri che integrano tale tecnologia.

La serie HD 7000 ha migliorato il supporto alla specifiche HDMI. Capace di supportare in pieno Fast HDMI 1.4a con 3D Stereoscopico e frame rate di 60Hz per occhio – 120hz in totale. Già pronte per il supporto ai Display 4K che possono essere pilotati da un singolo input ad alta velocità da 3GHZ Fast HDMI 1.4a o DisplayPort 1.2 HBR2

"APP Acceleration" è il nome dato ad un ampia gamma di applicazioni le quali hanno la capacità di elaborare i propri calcoli attraverso gli Stream processor della scheda video. La serie HD 7000 è stata ottimizzata per questo genere di calcoli. Queste applicazioni tipiche del mondo dell'informatica includono codifica Video – Decodifica video, compressione e gestione multiplexing della distribuzione dei contenuti, giochi , videoconferenze. "App Acceleration" può anche facilitare l'utilizzo dei programmi quotidiani come il browser per Internet, applicazioni da ufficio tipo foglio di calcolo o word processor, compressione file e altro ancora.

SAPPHIRE Technology has just announced a new graphics card in its HD 7000 series – the SAPPHIRE HD 7870 XT with Boost. Like the other cards in the HD 7000 series, the new card is based on the highly acclaimed Graphics Core Next architecture from AMD.

The SAPPHIRE HD 7870 XT with Boost delivers a new price:performance point to the series. It is based on AMD’s Tahiti architecture with its 256-bit memory interface, and 1536 stream processors and 96 Texture units, unlike the remainder of the HD 7800 series that uses the Pitcairn architecture. Configured with 2GB of high speed GDDR5 memory running at 1500 MHz (6GHz effective) the SAPPPHIRE HD 7870 XT has a core clock of 925MHz which dynamically rises to 975MHz with PowerTune Boost, AMDs dynamic performance enhancement for games.

This new model also features SAPPHIRE’s latest Dual-X cooler technology, with its graduated heatpipes and two aerofoil fans with dust repelling bearings for efficient cooling and low noise operation. Output configuration is Dual Link DVI-I (supporting VGA with dongle supplied), HDMI and two mini-DisplayPorts, allowing a wide range of monitor types to be connected. AMD’s multi-monitor SLS technology, Eyefinity is supported.

For enthusiasts wishing to maximise performance of this graphics card, the latest version of the SAPPHIRE overclocking tool, TriXX supports this technology and is available free to download from the SAPPHIRE website. SAPPHIRE TriXX allows tuning of GPU voltage as well as core and memory clocks, whilst continuously displaying temperature. Manual control of fan speed is supported, as well as user created fan profiles and the ability to save up to four different performance settings.

The HD 7000 series is the third generation of DirectX 11 compatible solutions from the graphics division of AMD - formerly ATI. The SAPPHIRE HD 7870 XT is ready for DirectX 11.1 and the new Windows 8 operating system as well as delivering all the features of the current DirectX 11 such as DirectCompute11 and multi threaded communications with the CPU. Communication with the host PC is optimised with the implementation of the latest high speed PCI-Express Gen3.0 interface, and multiple cards can be used to further enhance performance in CrossFireX mode on a suitably specified mainboard.

HDMI specifications have also increased in the HD 7000 series. Fast HDMI 1.4a supports Stereoscopic 3D with enhanced frame rates of 60Hz per eye - 120Hz total. It is also ready for the next generation of 4K displays that can be driven from a single high speed input of 3GHz HDMI 1.4a or DisplayPort 1.2 HBR2.

APP Acceleration is the name given to the enhanced performance of a wide range of applications using the stream processing capabilities and specific hardware features of the graphics architecture. The HD 7000 series has been optimised for this type of task. Typical applications include Video encoding and decoding, compression and multiplexing for media distribution, gaming or video conferencing. APP acceleration can also enhance everyday tasks such as Internet browsing, Office applications and file compression with supported software suites.
