18.05.2006 - ATI annuncia la linea di chip-set Radeon Xpress 1100 | ||
MARKHAM, ONTARIO, May 17, 2006 (CCNMatthews via COMTEX News Network) -- New chipsets armed to support AMD Turion 64 X2 mobile technology deliver industry-leading battery life, faster graphics, and come ready for the Microsoft Windows Vista premium experience ATI Technologies Inc. (TSX:ATY)(NASDAQ:ATYT) is squeezing longer life and more performance into today's notebook computers with the introduction of the new Radeon® Xpress 1100 series of chipsets, supporting AMD's Turion 64 X2 mobile technology. The Radeon Xpress 1100 series is built to deliver the ultimate mobile computing experience on the AMD platform, including industry-leading battery life, a 33 percent faster graphics core, and support for Microsoft Windows Vista. Whether for work or for play, the Radeon Xpress 1100 series is designed to squeeze the maximum productivity and performance out of today's notebooks, while still resulting in ever thinner and lighter designs due to its power- and heat-efficient architecture. The Radeon Xpress 1100 series will be available through leading notebook OEMs, including Fujitsu-Siemens Computers, Gateway, and HP. "As industry leaders, ATI and AMD share a common goal to improve the mobile computing experience by increasing and optimizing performance, while driving thin and light notebook designs. AMD Turion 64 X2 mobile technology has been designed for that purpose, with long battery life and reliability. When combined with ATI's Radeon Xpress 1100 series of chipsets, the two complementary technologies, designed for power efficiency and performance, deliver a leading-edge mobile computing experience," said Chris Cloran, vice president, mobile division, AMD. The Radeon Xpress 1100 series optimizes performance for the mobile world, providing advanced functionality for today's graphics-intensive business applications, the latest 3D games, and high-quality multimedia and digital entertainment. Features include: Epic battery life - The Radeon Xpress 1100 series eliminates the need for outlet hounds to hunt down power at airports and cafes, and ensures productive trips for the entire length of long flights, whether it's from New York to Los Angeles or London to Moscow. The Radeon Xpress 1100 series includes ATI's fifth-generation power management technology, Powerplay, that automatically adjusts the balance between performance and power consumption based on the workload. Through a combination of hardware and software, Powerplay optimizes the clock speed and voltage of the Radeon graphics core, and the LCD refresh rate to extend battery life. In combination with AMD PowerNow! technology, a key feature designed into AMD Turion 64 mobile technology, the Radeon Xpress 1100 series with Powerplay delivers the longest battery life yet in an AMD mobile platform. Faster graphics, better multimedia - Delivering 33 percent faster graphics than the Radeon Xpress 200M, the Radeon Xpress 1100 series provides tremendous value in a mobile platform for today and tomorrow. With support for DDR2 up to 667 MHz and DirectX® 9, Radeon Xpress 1100 series notebooks are ideal for media-intensive tasks such as digital content creation, viewing, and editing. Integrated video processing and acceleration makes DVD playback smooth, and the powerful graphics core easily handles the latest 3D games. A view to Microsoft Vista - While the latest power and graphics features make the Radeon Xpress 1100 series a tremendous value today, the chipset is also future-proof, providing support for the Microsoft Windows Vista premium experience, including the high-resolution 3D Aero user interface, graphically intense applications and flawless high-definition content playback. Not only does this ensure that notebook manufacturers and users get the most from their mobile computing investments, but it also makes certain that users can take advantage of all that Windows Vista has to offer upon its release. "The ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 series of chipsets for AMD-based notebook platforms delivers mobile computing at its best. With industry-leading battery life, superior graphics and digital media capabilities, and support for Microsoft Windows Vista, the ATI platform powered by AMD Turion 64 X2 mobile technology is well-suited for businesses and consumers alike," said Phil Eisler, senior vice president and general manager, Integrated and Mobile Business Unit, ATI Technologies. "ATI's chipset business is poised for further success with the introduction of this new family of offerings, and continuing innovation in the chipset market that will bear fruit in the weeks and months to come."
