13.05.2008 - AMD lancia nuove cpu Opteron quad-core HE (Highly Efficient) | ||
Con il comunicato stampa di seguito allegato AMD ha annunciato cinque nuovi Opteron quad-core caratterizzati dall'acronimo HE che sta per Highly Efficient. Queste cpu, infatti, possono vantare un valore molto basso del consumo di potenza medio e, precisamente, dell'ACP (Average CPU Power), pari a soli 55W. Inoltre, questi chip sono stati progettati in accordo alla architettura proprietaria Direct Connect Architecture ed hanno, dunque, un controller della memoria direttamente integrato sul die. AMD ha reso noto che i nuovi Opteron, ed in particolare le linee 2300 e 8300, sono già in commercio. Segue l'elenco completo dei processori HE, comprensivo del dettaglio che va dalla frequenza di clock per core alla dimensione della cache L3.
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- May 12, 2008 --AMD (NYSE:AMD) today introduced the industry’s first energy-efficient x86 server processors with four processing cores and an integrated memory controller all in a low 55-watt ACP thermal envelope. Blade and rack systems based on five new low-power Quad-Core AMD Opteron HE (Highly Efficient) processors are now widely available from global OEMs and solution providers. Quad-Core AMD Opteron HE processors are available in both the 2300 and 8300 Series for two-, four- and eight-way rack servers and blades. The new processors have set new performance records among comparable x86 energy-efficient processors, such as top scores for SPECfp_rate2006 in both two- and four-processor configurations, offering businesses of all sizes the exceptional scalability and efficiency benefits of AMD’s unrivaled Direct Connect Architecture.
