Con il comunicato stampa di seguito allegato, AMD ha reso noto di aver raggiunto oggi la ragguardevole quota di 50 milioni di processori grafici ATI Hollywood forniti a Nintendo per la realizzazione delle sue fortunate console Wii. In accordo al produttore statunitense, potendo vantare numeri di questo tipo ATI Hollywood è nettamente il suo chip per console più venduto di sempre.

Ricordiamo che AMD e Nintendo non sono nuove a partnership di questo tipo; per fissare le idee anche la precedente console di fascia alta di Nintendo, la GameCube, è un sistema che utilizza un chip ATI per l'implementazione della sottosezione grafica.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - March 11, 2009 - AMD (NYSE: AMD) announced that the 50 millionth ATI 'Hollywood' graphics processor for the Wii game console from Nintendo shipped today. With 50 million units delivered, the ATI graphics processor code-named 'Hollywood' becomes the most successful AMD game console chip to date in terms of unit sales.
