Con il comunicato stampa di seguito allegato, MSI ha lanciato la nuova gamma di schede grafiche SuperPipe che al momento include due soluzioni basate sulla gpu GeForce GTX 285, commercializzate con le denominazioni di N285GTX SuperPipe OC (il componente è visualizzato nelle foto che seguono) e N285GTX SuperPipe.

In accordo alla denominazione, pur essendo le due card molto simili dal punto di vista estetico, la prima è una variante overclocked della seconda che, in quanto tale, esibisce valori superiori dal punto di vista delle frequenze di clock del core grafico e della RAM (che in entrambi i casi è pari a 1GB di G-DDR3): rispettivamente 680MHz (gpu) e 2500MHz (G-DDR3) contro 648MHz (gpu) e 2474MHz (G-DDR3).

MSI ha cercato di fare la differenza rispetto alla concorrenza dotando le card della tecnologia proprietaria SuperPipe; partendo dall'idea che l'efficienza di trasferimento del calore, operato dalle heat pipe, è direttamente proporzionale al diametro delle stesse, MSI ha sovradimensionato tale parametro costruttivo di circa il 60% rispetto agli approcci tradizionali, ricorrendo a heat pipe con uno spessore di 8mm.

A SuperPipe MSI ha abbinato il cooler MSI Twin Frozr che vanta due ventole ed una progettazione mirata alla stabilizzazione termica non soltanto del chip grafico ma anche degli altri componenti fondamentali installati sul PCB, come RAM e condensatori.

MSI SuperPipe technology
The N285GTX SuperPipe is MSI's first card to use SuperPipe technology. Heatpipe is an extremely important component on a graphics card, which is responsible for transferring heat away from the GPU to the cooling fins for dissipation. The thicker the heatpipe, the more heat it can transfer, the faster it dissipates, and the better its overall thermal efficiency. MSI's SuperPipe technology uses special 8mm thick heatpipes that are 60% thicker than the traditional pipes, and show about a 90% improvement in thermal efficiency. With such amazing improvement, the MSI SuperPipe is a high-performance graphics card's best companion that perfectly eliminates high-end GPUs' overheat issues.

N285GTX SuperPipe also equips a Twin Frozr dual-fan thermal design that cools down GPU and other graphics card components (such as capacitors or memory).
