The website Hardwareoverclock Austria has tested new ATI Catalyst release v. 5.9 and has compared its performances with those of previous official releases - all Catalyst in the range 5.1,5.8 - and of some Omega and DNA unofficial packages.

This is the testing system:
  • Athlon 64 3500+ (939)
  • Abit AV8
  • 2x512 DDR 400 Twinmos 2-3-3-6
  • Sapphire Radeon X800XT-PE
  • Western Digital 80 GB 8 MB Cache
  • Antec NEOPower 480 Watt (System)
  • Q-Technology 400 Watt (Videocard only)
  • Windows XP SP2
  • VIA 4in1 4.55
  • Futuremark 3D Mark 2003 360
  • Futuremark 3D Mark 2005 120
  • Aquamark 3
  • Doom 3 Gamebenchmark
  • Hardwareoc.hu Farcry Benchmark
  • Hardwareoc.hu Half Life 2 Benchmark
Catalyst 5.9 showed best score, with a little gain on all other drivers, when tester used 3DMark 2005, Half-Life 2 and Doom3 as benchmarks.
