The Intel Data Migration Software copies your drive's contents from your old storage device to your new Intel Solid-State Drive. The software can help make this transition smooth and painless.
Before using the Intel Data Migration Software, please download the Data Migration Software Guide.
After you install your Intel SSD and the Intel Data Migration software, the software will detect both your old and new drives and guide you through the cloning process, i.e. show you how to move all of your data from your slower HDD to your fast new SSD. Before you begin, however, make sure the amount of data on your old drive doesn't exceed the size of your new SSD.
What's Included in the Intel SSD box:
- Intel SSD (all models) - SATA-to-SATA cable used to attach your storage device to your desktop computer (K5 models only) - 2.5" to 3.5" mounting bracket used to mount your 2.5" SSD to the 3.5" enclosure in your desktop (R5 and K5 models only) - Link to download Intel Data Migration Software
What You'll Need:
- Computer with the required system specifications (see below) - A screwdriver ~3mm - If you're installing on a laptop computer, a third-party SATA-to-USB cable adaptor is needed.
Required System Specifications:
The hardware requirements for the Intel Data Migration Software correspond with the minimum requirements for the operating system installed on the computer to be used with the Intel Data Migration Software. In addition, the Intel Data Migration Software requires the following hardware: - Attached Intel SSD
The Intel Data Migration Software rescue media has the following hardware requirements: - 256 MB RAM - Processor 1 GHz or faster - The recommended minimum screen resolution is 1152x864 - The supported operating systems are Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7
The Intel Data Migration Software isn't compatible with Macintosh computers. If you're using a Mac operating system, there are a variety of free tools available for cloning, such as Carbon Copy Cloner, available here: http://www.bombich.com/
Your Intel SSD comes with instructions on physically installing your drive in your system. Please refer to these instructions.
The Intel SSD upgrade kit (K5 models only) comes with cables designed for data migration on a desktop computer. If you're using a laptop or a netbook, you can purchase a 3rd party hardware interface to migrate your data.
Intel Data Migration Software is currently available in English only; other language versions will be available at a later date.
