Grazie al nuovo firmware 3.2 introdotto pochi giorni fa, l’intera gamma di Turbo NAS QNAP dai più piccoli modelli a 2 dischi fino ai modelli a 8 dischi, supporta ora in modo assolutamente nativo le funzionalità del servizio Time Machine di Apple. All’interno dell’interfaccia accessibile da un comune browser Web, sarà possibile configurare qualsiasi modello di Turbo NAS QNAP in modo da sfruttare appieno il servizio di backup dei sistemi operativi Mac OS X di Apple.

Il servizio è configurabile completamente dall’interfaccia web di gestione QNAP e, dopo pochi semplici passi sarò possibile salvare agevolmente i dati contenuti nei computer Apple collegati alla rete.

Non solo Time Machine
Se il supporto a Time Machine è già di per se rivoluzionario, lo stesso si può dire anche per il rinnovato File Manager via Web. QNAP non ha rinnovato soltanto la grafica: con la nuova versione di questo avanzato sistema di gestione dei file infatti, sarà possibile trasferire più fino a 128 file contemporaneamente (da e verso unità USB / E-SATA collegate al dispositivo o tra più dischi fissi interni) e comprimere e decomprimere file direttamente dall’interfaccia Web. Questo significa che per gestire i file presenti sul dispositivo Turbo NAS, sarà sufficiente collegarsi File Manger via Web digitando l’indirizzo web dell’unità con qualsiasi browser, e qualsiasi computer o dispositivo mobile.

The NAS management software version 3.2, embedded as firmware, provides a segment-leading iSCSI target solution supporting SPC-3 persistent reservation, MPIO and MC/S allowing forward-thinking SMB and corporate customers the ability to deploy the NAS as a storage server in the virtualized and clustered infrastructure. Additionally, the newly updated management software also steps up its backup capabilities by adding Apple Time Machine support and even redundant backups to Amazon's S3 cloud storage platform.

In addition, for ease of management, IT administrators can also benefit from the DFS support (Share Folder Aggregation), import of user-list, and customizable Daylight Saving Time. Further, the next-generation Internet Protocol, IPv6, has also been incorporated for future networking evolution. QNAP's Web File Manager 2 features an entirely redesigned user interface and functionality for improved file sharing and management. WebDAV is also available for users to collaboratively share, access, and edit files over HTTP and HTTPs.
