Con il comunicato stampa di seguito allegato, HIS ha annunciato la video card HIS Radeon 5550 Silence 1GB DDR2 PCIe, una soluzione basata su un PCB in formato ridotto ("low-profile", ndr) e equipaggiata con un cooler passivo dual-slot che, in accordo al produttore, può essere impiegata in svariati ambiti, tuttavia appare essere particolarmente idonea per l'installazione nei sistemi di tipo HTPC (Home Theater PC) da salotto.

La gpu della 5550 Silence 1GB DDR2 lavora a 550MHz mentre la memoria RAM (1GB di DDR2) a 800MHzMHz; il bus di collegamento tra core grafico e VRAM è a 128-bit. Tra le tecnologie supportate dal prodotto, citate dalla stessa HIS, figurano naturalmente DirectX 11, ATI Stream e Full HD @ 1080p
