Apple ha presentato oggi iTunes 10 con Ping, un nuovo social network di natura musicale che consente di seguire gli artisti preferiti e gli amici per scoprire la musica di cui parlano, ascoltarla e scaricarla. iTunes Ping consente di pubblicare pensieri e opinioni, gli album e i brani preferiti e la musica scaricata da iTunes, ma anche di consultare gli elenchi dei concerti e far sapere agli amici a quali si ha intenzione di partecipare. iTunes 10 offre la possibilità di noleggiare trasmissioni TV in HD* a soli 99 centesimi di dollaro per episodio e la riproduzione audio wireless AirPlay.

Ping consente agli utenti di seguire i loro artisti preferiti per scoprire cosa fanno, guardare le foto e i video che hanno pubblicato, consultare le date del loro tour e leggere commenti su altri artisti e brani che ascoltano. Si può inoltre creare un profilo su iTunes per far sapere agli amici quale artista si sta seguendo, quali brani si stanno ascoltando e a quali concerti si intende partecipare. E quale modo migliore per scoprire nuova musica se non scoprire proprio cosa stanno ascoltando i nostri amici? Il feed Recent Activity di Ping mostra i post degli amici su artisti, album, brani e concerti, oltre alla Top 10 unificata dei brani e degli album scaricati da iTunes dagli amici e dagli artisti che si stanno seguendo. Oltre a usare Ping sul desktop, gli utenti potranno portarlo sempre con sé sul loro iPhone o iPod touch,** così potranno essere sempre sotto i riflettori della scena musicale.

Con iTunes 10, è possibile noleggiare trasmissioni TV in HD senza spot pubblicitari da ABC, ABC Family, Fox, Disney Channel e BBC America e guardarle a casa o in movimento, a soli 99 centesimi di dollaro per episodio. Sono disponibili migliaia di episodi, molti il giorno successivo alla messa in onda, e gli utenti potranno guardarli sul proprio Mac o PC, iPhone, iPod touch e il nuovissimo Apple TV, con 30 giorni di tempo per iniziarne la visione dal momento in cui si è noleggiato l’episodio e 48 ore per concluderla una volta avviata.

iTunes 10 offre inoltre la riproduzione audio wireless AirPlay per ascoltare la musica su altoparlanti in remoto tramite la Base AirPort Express di Apple. AirPlay funziona ora anche senza AirPort Express, con altoparlanti, ricevitori e impianti stereo da aziende quali Bowers & Wilkins, JBL, Denon e iHome, così sarà possibile ascoltare l’intera libreria musicale di iTunes in wireless da qualsiasi stanza della casa senza dover acquistare prodotti e accessori aggiuntivi.
