GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY ha annunciato che l'intera linea composta dalle sue motherboard Serie 6 è in grado di supportare i nuovi processori Intel prodotti con un processo tecnologico a 22nm e dotati di un socket LGA-1155 (le mobo serie 6 di GIGABYTE, quind, non sono compatibili soltanto gli attuali e i prossimi "Sandy Bridge", ma anche i futuri chip "Ivy Bridge", ndr).

Inoltre, in accordo al produttore, le schede madri di cui sopra, se abbinate a una cpu "Ivy Bridge", possono vantare anche il supporto nativo della tecnoloogia PCI Express Gen. 3, capace di offrire tutta la banda passante richiesta dalle video card di nuova generazione.

I possessori di una motherboard serie 6 possono attivare il supporto delle nuove cpu e del bus PCI Express Gen. 3 aggiornando le proprie schede con la versione più recente del bios corrispondente, che GIGABYTE ha pubblicato a questo indirizzo.
