TUL ha annunciato ufficialmente al CES le video card di fascia alta denominate PowerColor PCS+ R9 290X e PowerColor PCS+ R9 290. Le new entry della linea PCS+ sono delle soluzioni non reference - sia dal punto di vista dei componenti elettronici impiegati per la fabbricazione che da quello del sistema di raffreddamento - che lavorano in un regime di overclocking fin dalle condizioni di default.

Entrambe le schede grafiche, infatti, sono equipaggiate con uno stadio di alimentazione sovradimensionato, implementato in accordo alla tecnologia proprietaria Gold Power Kit, che è incentrata su un PWM digitale, che minimizza le correnti di ripple e aumenta l'efficienza, e con un cooler aderente al design, anch'esso proprietario, denominato PCS+ Trio Fan.

In accordo al produttore, questo sistema di raffreddamento, che include tre ventole, due strutture lamellari in alluminio e cinque heat pipe, rispetto al modello reference, e a parità di condizioni operative, riduce la temperatura del 24%, pur essendo più silenzioso in maniera significativa (17%).

Entrambe le card hanno un frame buffer realizzato con 4GB di G-DDR5, che lavora a 1350MHz (5.4Gbps), collegato alla gpu attraverso un bus a 512-bit, oltre a un set di connettori di uscita composto da due porte DVI-D, una HDMI e una DisplayPort.

La PowerColor PCS+ R9 290X risulta tuttavia più performante dal momento che il core grafico della sua gpu AMD Hawaii opera di default a 1050MHz, mentre quello della PowerColor PCS+ R9 290 a 1040MHz.
