Con il comunicato stampa di seguito allegato, Diamond Multimedia ha annunciato la commercializzazione, programmata per oggi 18 Agosto 2008, della scheda grafica di fascia alta siglata Diamond Radeon HD 4870 X2 - XOC³ H2O Edition. La nuova dual-gpu di Diamond è, in accordo al produttore, progettata e ottimizzata mediante firmware per offrire le massime prestazioni possibili in ambito gaming.

La memoria RAM - 2GB di chip G-DDR5 -, infatti, è impostata a 1100MHz ed è overcloccabile fino a 1200MHz, contro il valore reference di 900MHz, mentre le gpu sono overcloccabili dall'utente via software (Catalyst Control Center) fino a 990MHz (la frequenza di clock reference di un chip RV770 è pari a 750MHz, ndr).

Il sistema di raffreddamento utilizza il liquido (acqua) per garantire la stabilità termica e, di conseguenza, quella funzionale. La Diamond Radeon HD 4870 X2 - XOC³ H2O Edition può funzionare in modalità quad-gpu in virtù del supporto della tecnologia ATI CrossFireX, se abbinata alle motherboard CrossFireX Ready.
