EVGA ha annunciato la "dream motherboard" siglata Classified SR-2, una soluzione dual-socket LGA-1366 che permette la realizzazione di workstation di livello "enthusiast" basate su due processori multi-core di classe Intel Xeon E5500 o Intel Xeon 5600 (questi ultimi sono stati annunciati ieri da Intel, ndr).

La Classified SR-2 è basata sul chipset northbridge 5520 e sul southbridge ICH10R, entrambi prodotti da Intel. Dal 5520 gli ingegneri EVGA hanno ottenuto una soluzione che include due stadi con QuickPath Interconnect; inoltre, ogni socket può gestire, mediante un controller DDR3 in triple-channel, fino a 6 DIMM allocate su altrettanti slot.

Le due linee PCI-Express 2.0 x16 rese disponibili dal chipset sono fornite ciascuna in ingresso ad un chip NVIDIA nForce 200; ogni linea in input viene impiegata per assicurare due link PCI-Express 2.0 x16 in output.
