AMD ha presentanto ufficialmente la sua nuova linea di processori dual-core per computer mobile: si tratta delle cpu a 64 bit siglate Turion 64 X2 in grado, in accordo al comunicato stampa del chip-maker di seguito allegato, di garantire da un lato un basso consumo di potenza, con conseguente ampia durata della carica della batteria, e dal'altro l'elevato livello prestazionale in multi-tasking richiesto dalle applicazioni odierne. Al pari degli Operon e dei Athlon 64 X2, i Turion 64 X2 supportano l'architettura Direct Connect che incrementa le performance del sistema mediante la velocizzazione del collegamento tra cpu, memoria e I/O.
