NVIDIA ha allargato con il mondo Mac, ed in particolare con i sistemi Mac Pro, il bacino di utenza della scheda grafica per applicazioni professionali Quadro FX 4800, creandone una variante ottimizzata per l'installazione sui computer di Apple.
Sono al solito di primissimo piano le feature dell'hardware, che includono la dotazione di un frame buffer da 1.5GB ed una banda tra gpu e memoria pari a 76.8GB/s. Queste specifiche assicurano alte prestazioni sia nell'elaborazione in tempo reale delle texture di grandi dimensioni e dei frame che nel Full-Scene Antialiasing (FSAA) ad alta risoluzione.
La card, che include un connettore a 3 pin per le immagini stereoscopiche e due uscite DVI dual-link, ha un MSRP pari a $1.799; sarà acquistabile a partire dal prossimo mese di Maggio su Apple.come e presso i rivenditori della stessa Apple. I partner di NVIDIA PNY Technologies (US e EMEA), Leadteck (APAC) e Elsa (Giappone) realizzeranno delle soluzioni grafiche basate sull'architettura Quadro FX 4800.
