Samsung Electronics ha annunciato il masterizzatore DVD esterno in formato SLIM siglato SE-S084D, una nuova soluzione, nell'ambito degli optical disk
drive (ODD), concepita per l'utilizzo in abbinamento ai netbook e ai laptop, che, essendo ottimizzati per un impiego mobile, non sono dotati tipicamente di un burner
built-in.
Il DVD writer SE-S084D sarà collegabile al sistema host mediante una connessione USB e non richiederà alimentazione di rete in accordo alla concezione
"nomadica" del prodotto, il cui target è rappresentato dai portatili che eseguono i Sistemi Operativi Windows, incluso Windows 7 e Mac OS X.
La nuova soluzione di Samsung supporta la tecnologia di Buffer Under Run, al fine di ridurre gli errori in fase di scrittura, ed è più leggera
dei prodotti concorrenti (il suo peso è inferiore del 25%).
Queste le performance in scrittura dichiarate dal costruttore al variare dei formati supportati: 24X con i CD-ROM, 24X con i CD-RW, 8X con i DVD±R, 5X con i
DVD-RAM, 8X con i DVD+R Dual Layer, 6X con i DVD-R Dual Laye, 8X con i DVD+RW e 6X con i DVD-RW.
Il DVD writer SE-S084D sarà disponibile sul mercato internazionale nel corso del secondo trimestre dell'anno.

Featuring a sleek design with a stylish metallic centerline, the new SE-S084D has won the iF Product Award Design, which is one of the world’s top three
leading design awards, sponsored out of Hannover, Germany. The SE-S084D features a rounded shape and compact size that is 20% smaller than conventional DVD
writers. It is 25% lighter than Samsung’s conventional DVD writer to accommodate today’s hectic mobile lifestyle.
The SE-S084D DVD writer is engineered to be compatible with all major operating systems, including Win7 and Mac OS. The new DVD writer features Buffer Under
Run technology to prevent errors that result from writing speeds that exceed data transfer speeds, while also enabling PC multi-tasking.
The SE-S084D DVD writer is an eco-friendly product, manufactured with lead-free soldering technology plus harmful materials such as Pb, cd, cr+6, Hg, PBBs
and PBDE have been eliminated.
The DVD writer drive provides a variety of speeds across different data media types including: 24X CD-ROM, 24X CD-RW, 8X DVD±R recording, 5X DVD-RAM
recording, 8X DVD+R Dual Layer recording, 6X DVD-R Dual Layer recording, 8X DVD+RW recording and 6X DVD-RW recording.
The SE-S084D is available worldwide in Q2 2010.
