SAPPHIRE annuncia le proprie card Radeon HD 6870 e HD 6850

SAPPHIRE Technology, il principale produttore e fornitore mondiale di soluzioni grafiche basate sulla tecnologia AMD presenta i primi prodotti di una seconda generazione di schede video per supportare le avanzate caratteristiche grafiche di Microsoft DirectX 11 e offrire una chiarezza video, velocità ed effetti visivi eccezionali, anche con più monitor e display 3D stereoscopici.

La serie SAPPHIRE HD 6800 presenta la seconda generazione della tecnologia grafica AMD progettata per supportare tutte le caratteristiche di Microsoft DirectX 11 e DirectCompute 11. Le nuove GPU sono integrate nel processo produttivo a 40 nm di AMD per garantire elevate prestazioni con bassi consumi. Fra le caratteristiche hardware avanzate rientrano un’unità di tessellazione ottimizzata, compressione texture HDR dedicata, comunicazione multi-threaded con core CPU di sistema, supporto integrato per molte istruzioni di DirectCompute 11, supporto per 3D stereoscopico e HDMI 1.4a.

Due nuove schede
La SAPPHIRE HD 6870 ha una nuova architettura con un totale di 1120 processori stream e 56 unità texture che offrono un’enorme potenza di calcolo parallela per grafica e altre applicazioni accelerate. La sua velocità clock core di 900 MHz, insieme a un’interfaccia dedicata ad alta velocità con la memoria GDDR5 da 1 GB che opera a 1050 MHz (4,2 Gb/s effettivi) garantisce le massime prestazioni della categoria. Vanta un consumo di energia attiva molto modesto e, grazie alla gestione energetica dinamica, la scheda garantisce un funzionamento ad alto risparmio energetico in modalità idle. 
Al contempo, SAPPHIRE introdurrà la SAPPHIRE HD 6850 con la configurazione leggermente inferiore di 960 processori stream e 48 unità texture. Velocità di clock di 775 MHz (core) e 1000 MHz (4 Gb/sec effettivi) (memoria) offrono agli utenti prestazioni eccellenti a prezzi contenuti con pieno supporto DirectX 11 e tutte le caratteristiche di questa nuova generazione tecnologica.

Video, audio e 3D
Come le generazioni precedenti, la serie SAPPHIRE HD 6800 integra un decoder UVD (Unified Video Decoder) di terza generazione per la decodifica hardware accelerata di contenuti su supporti Blu-ray e HD DVD sia per i codec VC-1 e H.264 che per file Mpeg, riducendo considerevolmente il carico di lavoro sulla CPU e da ora supporta anche il Multiple Video Coding per Blu-Ray 3D.
Sono anche supportati Dolby TrueHD e DTS-HD Master Audio e la capacità HDMI è stata aumentata a HDMI 1.4a. Ciò ora garantisce colori intensi, una migliore alta risoluzione per applicazioni di Digital Theatre e supporto 3D stereoscopico nonché high bit-rate audio 7.1.

Eyefinity
Oltre a una chiarezza dell'immagine, velocità ed effetti visivi spettacolari, la serie SAPPHIRE HD 6800 supporta la modalità multi-monitor AMD chiamata Eyefinity. Ciò consente a un’unica GPU di visualizzare immagine su una serie di più monitor, aprendo interessanti possibilità non solo per il gaming multischermo ma anche per sistemi d'informazione, multimediali e display promozionali.
La HD 6870 ha due uscite DVI, una HDMI e due mini-DisplayPort, consentendo un’ampia scelta di configurazioni monitor. La HD 6850 ha due uscite DVI, una HDMI e una unica DisplayPort. Con l’introduzione dei driver DisplayPort v1.2 sarà possibile collegare in cascata diversi monitor DisplayPort v1.2 da ciascun’uscita DisplayPort.

Applicazioni accelerate
I diversi processori stream della serie HD 6800 possono essere utilizzati per accelerare altre applicazioni come il video transcoding. L’ultima generazione di web browser può essere accelerata da GPU e ciò è anche supportato per una maggior produttività in Microsoft Office 2010.
La serie SAPPHIRE HD 6800 è dotata del driver grafico con certificazione WHQL per DirectX 11 di AMD che supporta tutte le caratteristiche chiave di DirectX 11 richieste per nuove esperienze di gioco e per accelerare le applicazioni supportate dalla GPU.

SAPPHIRE Technology, the largest manufacturer and supplier worldwide of graphics solutions based on AMD technology is announcing the first products in a second generation of video cards to support the advanced graphical features of Microsoft DirectX 11 and delivering spectacular video clarity, speed and visual effects, including over multiple monitors and 3D stereoscopic displays.

The SAPPHIRE HD 6800 series features the second generation of graphics technology from AMD designed to support all the features of Microsoft DirectX 11 and DirectCompute 11. The new GPU’s are built in AMD’s 40nm process to deliver high performance with low power consumption. Advanced hardware features include an enhanced Tesselation unit, dedicated HDR Texture compression, multi-threaded communication with system CPU cores, embedded support for many of the DirectCompute 11 instructions, 3D stereoscopic support and HDMI 1.4a.


Two new cards
The SAPPHIRE HD 6870 has a new architecture with a total of 1120 stream processors and 56 texture units delivering massively parallel computing power for graphics and other accelerated applications. Its core clock speed of 900MHz, together with a dedicated high speed interface to 1GB of GDDR5 memory running at 1050MHz (4.2 Gb/s effective) delivers class leading performance. It boasts a very modest active power consumption and, using Dynamic Power Management, the card has a super low-power idle mode.

At the same time, SAPPHIRE will introduce the SAPPHIRE HD 6850, with the slightly smaller configuration of 960 stream processors and 48 texture processing units. Clock speeds of 775MHz for the core and 1000Mhz (4 Gb/sec effective) for the memory give users access to excellent performance at a lower price point with full DirectX 11 support and all the features of this new generation of technology.

Video, audio and 3D
Like previous generations, the SAPPHIRE HD 6800 series has an on board hardware UVD (Unified Video decoder) – this technology is now in its third generation, considerably reducing CPU load and delivering smooth decoding of Blu-ray and HD DVD content for both VC-1 and H.264 codecs, as well as Mpeg files, and now introducing support for Multiple Video Coding for Blu-Ray 3D.

Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio is supported, and HDMI capability has also been upgraded to HDMI 1.4a. This now provides deep colour, enhanced high resolution output for Digital Theatre applications and 3D stereoscopic support as well as 7.1 high bit-rate audio.

Eyefinity
In addition to spectacular image clarity, speed and visual effects, the SAPPHIRE HD 6800 series supports the AMD multi-monitor mode known as Eyefinity. This allows a single GPU to display images over an array of several monitors, opening up exciting possibilities not just for multi-screen gaming but also for information systems, multimedia systems and promotional displays.

The HD 6870 has two DVI, one HDMI and two mini-DisplayPort outputs, allowing a wide choice of monitor configurations to be used. The HD 6850 has two DVI, one HDMI and a single DisplayPort output. With the release of the DisplayPort v1.2 drivers, it will be possible to daisy chain several DisplayPort v1.2 monitors from each DisplayPort output.

Accelerated applications
The multiple stream processors of the HD 6800 series can be used to accelerate other applications such as video transcoding. The latest generation of web browsers can be GPU accelerated, and this is also supported for enhanced productivity in Microsoft Office 2010.

The SAPPHIRE HD 6800 series is supported by AMD's DirectX 11 WHQL certified graphics driver which delivers support for all of the key DirectX 11 level features required for enhanced gaming experiences as well as GPU acceleration of supported applications.
