Sapphire annuncia la sua linea di video card Radeon HD 6900

SAPPHIRE Technology, il principale produttore e fornitore mondiale di soluzioni grafiche basate sulla tecnologia AMD, ha appena introdotto due nuovi modelli che aumentano le prestazioni e le caratteristiche della serie HD 6000 lanciata di recente.

Nuova architettura - nuove caratteristiche
La nuova SAPPHIRE HD 6970 ha una nuova architettura della GPU di AMD che presenta due motori grafici in un chip con 24 motori SIMD e un totale di 1536 processori stream con 96 unità texture che offrono un’enorme potenza di calcolo per grafica e altre applicazioni accelerate. La sua velocità clock core di 880 MHz, insieme a un’interfaccia dedicata ad alta velocità con la memoria GDDR5 da 2 GB che opera a 1.375 MHz (5,5 Gb/s effettivi) garantisce le massime prestazioni della serie. Nuovi motori di tessellazione incrementano di fino a tre volte le prestazioni della generazione precedente, le nuove modalità Enhanced Quality AA e di filtraggio garantiscono la più alta qualità dell’immagine mai ottenuta.

Una nuova caratteristica di gestione dinamica dei consumi - nota come AMD PowerTune - consente alla nuova HD 6970 di fornire le massime prestazioni per applicazioni complesse operando nel contempo con la potenza nominale di 250 W. Nuove opzioni del Catalyst Control Center consentono ai più appassionati di regolare questi valori per ottimizzare le prestazioni. Il consumo tipico per i giochi è di 190 W e la scheda ha una nuova modalità idle ad alto risparmio energetico di soli 20 W.

Pacchetto esclusivo
In esclusiva per SAPPHIRE, il lancio della scheda HD 6970 è abbinato al nuovo gioco Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam. SAPPHIRE integrerà un voucher nella SAPPHIRE HD 6970 Gaming Edition per consentire agli utenti di scaricare il gioco completo appena sarà disponibile il 21 dicembre. Un’ulteriore SAPPHIRE HD 6970 Limited Edition offrirà la scheda e il voucher per il gioco in una speciale custodia in alluminio. La normale SAPPHIRE HD 6970 non avrà il voucher per il gioco.

Al contempo, SAPPHIRE introdurrà la SAPPHIRE HD 6950 con la configurazione leggermente inferiore di 1408 processori stream e 88 unità texture. Velocità di clock di 800 MHz (core) e 1250 MHz (5 Gb/sec effettivi) (memoria) offrono agli utenti nuovi parametri di riferimento in fatto di prestazioni a prezzi contenuti con pieno supporto DirectX 11 e tutte le caratteristiche di questa nuova generazione tecnologica.
La serie SAPPHIRE HD 6900 presenta l’ultima generazione della tecnologia grafica AMD progettata per supportare tutte le caratteristiche di Microsoft DirectX 11 e DirectCompute 11. Le nuove GPU sono integrate nel processo produttivo a 40 nm di AMD per garantire elevate prestazioni con bassi consumi. Fra le caratteristiche hardware avanzate rientrano un’unità di tessellazione ottimizzata, nuove opzioni AA e di filtraggio immagini, compressione texture HDR dedicata, comunicazione multi-threaded con core CPU di sistema, supporto integrato per molte istruzioni di DirectCompute 11, supporto per 3D stereoscopico e HDMI 1.4a

Eyefinity
Oltre a una chiarezza dell'immagine, una velocità ed effetti visivi spettacolari, la serie SAPPHIRE HD 6900 supporta la modalità multi-monitor AMD chiamata Eyefinity. Ciò consente a un'unica GPU di visualizzare immagini su una serie di più monitor, aprendo interessanti possibilità non solo per il gaming multischermo ma anche per sistemi d'informazione, multimediali e display promozionali.

La HD 6970 e HD 6950 hanno due uscite DVI, una HDMI e due mini-DisplayPort, consentendo un’ampia scelta di configurazioni monitor. Nelle schede grafiche SAPPHIRE HD 6900 è incluso un cavo HDMI High Speed di 1,8 m. Con l’introduzione dei driver DisplayPort v1.2 sarà possibile collegare in cascata diversi monitor DisplayPort v1.2 da ciascuna uscita DisplayPort, per supportare fino a sei display per scheda.

Video, audio e 3D
Come le generazioni precedenti, la serie SAPPHIRE HD 6900 integra un decoder UVD (Unified Video Decoder) di terza generazione per la decodifica hardware accelerata di contenuti su supporti Blu-ray e HD DVD sia per i codec VC-1 e H.264 che per file Mpeg, riducendo considerevolmente il carico di lavoro sulla CPU e supporta anche il Multiple Video Coding per Blu-Ray 3D.

Sono anche supportati Dolby TrueHD e DTS-HD Master Audio e la capacità HDMI è stata inoltre aumentata a HDMI 1.4a. Ciò ora garantisce colori intensi, una migliore alta risoluzione per applicazioni di Digital Theatre e supporto 3D stereoscopico nonché high bit-rate audio 7.1.

Applicazioni accelerate
I diversi processori stream della serie HD 6900 possono essere utilizzati per accelerare altre applicazioni come il video transcoding. L'ultima generazione di web browser può essere accelerata da GPU e ciò è anche supportato per una maggior produttività in Microsoft Office 2010.
La serie SAPPHIRE HD 6900 è dotata del driver grafico con certificazione WHQL per DirectX 11 di AMD che supporta tutte le caratteristiche chiave di DirectX 11 richieste per nuove esperienze di gioco, nuove opzioni di configurazione e per accelerare le applicazioni supportate dalla GPU.

SAPPHIRE Technology, the largest manufacturer and supplier worldwide of graphics solutions based on AMD technology has just added two new models bringing higher performance and new features to the recently launched HD 6000 series.
New Architecture – new features


The new SAPPHIRE HD 6970 uses a new GPU architecture from AMD which features dual graphics engines in one chip with 24 SIMD engines and a total of 1536 stream processors with 96 texture units, providing massively parallel computing power for graphics and other accelerated applications. Its core clock speed of 880MHz, together with a dedicated high speed interface to 2GB of GDDR5 memory running at 1375MHz (5.5Gb/s effective) delivers the highest performance in this series. New Tesselation engines bring up to three times the performance of the previous generation, and new Enhanced Quality AA and filtering modes bring the highest image quality ever achieved.

A new dynamic power management feature - known as AMD PowerTune - enables the new HD 6970 to deliver maximum performance for demanding applications whilst operating within its specified rating of 250W. New options in the Catalyst Control Center allow enthusiasts to adjust this rating for enhanced performance. Typical power consumption for gaming is 190W and the card has a super low idle power of only 20W.

Exclusive bundle
Exclusive to SAPPHIRE with the launch of the HD 6970 is the brand new game – Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam. SAPPHIRE will bundle a voucher in the SAPPHIRE HD 6970 Gaming Edition for users to download the full game as soon as it is available on December 21st. An additional SAPPHIRE HD 6970 Limited Edition will feature the card and game voucher delivered in a special Aluminium carry case. The regular SAPPHIRE HD 6970 will not have the game voucher.

At the same time, SAPPHIRE will introduce the SAPPHIRE HD 6950, with the slightly less powerful configuration of 1408 stream processors and 88 texture processing units. With its clock speeds of 800MHz for the core and 1250Mhz (5 Gb/sec effective) for the memory this model brings users a new benchmark in performance at a lower price point with full DirectX 11 support and all the features of this new generation of technology.

The SAPPHIRE HD 6900 series features the latest graphics technology from AMD designed to support all the features of Microsoft DirectX 11 and DirectCompute 11. The new GPU’s are built in AMD’s 40nm process to deliver high performance with low power consumption. Advanced hardware features include an enhanced Tesselation unit, new AA and image filtering options, dedicated HDR Texture compression, multi-threaded communication with system CPU cores, embedded support for many of the DirectCompute 11 instructions, 3D stereoscopic support and HDMI 1.4a.

Eyefinity
In addition to spectacular image clarity, speed and visual effects, the SAPPHIRE HD 6900 series supports the AMD multi-monitor mode known as Eyefinity. This allows a single GPU to display images over an array of several monitors, opening up exciting possibilities not just for multi-screen gaming but also for information systems, multimedia systems and promotional displays.

The HD 6970 and HD 6950 each have two DVI, one HDMI and two mini-DisplayPort outputs, allowing a wide choice of monitor configurations to be used. A 1.8m High Speed HDMI cable is included with the SAPPHIRE HD 6900 series cards. With the future release of the DisplayPort v1.2 drivers, it will be possible to daisy chain several DisplayPort v1.2 monitors from each DisplayPort output, supporting up to six displays per card.

Video, audio and 3D
Like previous generations, the SAPPHIRE HD 6900 series has an on board hardware UVD (Unified Video decoder) – this technology is now in its third generation, considerably reducing CPU load and delivering smooth decoding of Blu-ray™ and HD content for both VC-1 and H.264 codecs, as well as Mpeg files, and support for Multiple View Video Coding for Blu-Ray 3D.

Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio are supported, and HDMI capability has also been upgraded to HDMI 1.4a. This now provides deep colour, enhanced high resolution output for Digital Theatre applications and 3D stereoscopic support as well as 7.1 high bit-rate audio.

Accelerated applications
The multiple stream processors of the HD 6900 series can be used to accelerate other applications such as video transcoding. The latest generation of web browsers can be GPU accelerated, and this is also supported for enhanced productivity in Microsoft Office 2010.

The SAPPHIRE HD 6900 series is supported by AMD's DirectX 11 WHQL certified graphics driver which delivers support for all of the key DirectX 11 level features required for enhanced gaming experiences as well new configuration options and GPU acceleration of supported applications.
