Con il comunicato stampa di seguito allegato, Creative Technology ha annunciato la realizzazione della scheda audio PCIe Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio: in accordo alla sigla scelta dal costruttore, la nuova card, che è indirizzata ai sistemi PC per desktop, è collegabile alla motherboard mediante l'ausilio di uno slot PCI-Express. Sono tuttavia due le tecnologie proprietrie che costituiscono il valore aggiunto della Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio.
La prima è la X-Fi Crystalizer; questa agisce sui file audio, come quelli sottoposti a compressione per il trasferimento attraverso Rete, e ne amplia la dinamica, determinando dunque una sorta di rigenerazione del segnale originale.
La seconda è la X-Fi CMSS-3D; questa consente di alterare la spazialità dei suoni, ottendendo una sorta di effetto surround partendo da brani audio o filmati stereo.
Ancora, la PCIe Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio supporta EAX ADVANCED HD 4.0 ed è retro-compatibile in ambiente Windows Vista con i game che utilizzano DirectSound 3D grazie al software Creative ALchemy (che converte le chiamate a DirectSound 3D in chiamate a OpenAL).
La PCIe Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio ha un MSRP di $69.99; arriverà sul mercato asiatico (Singapore) a fine Novembre.

The Creative PCIe Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio features two fundamental audio technologies to help improve the overall audio experience for users. This X-Fi technology intelligently enhances musical dynamics by emphasising sharp percussive sounds and transients, creating a “punchier” and livelier listening experience.
The X-Fi CMSS-3D function allows users to expand their stereo music and movies into surround sound. To the listener, voices would appear to originate from the centre and ambient sound appears all around, similar to the listening experience in a live performance.
The headphone surround effects will sound like multi-channel speakers positioned all around the listener. Listeners will feel as though they are surrounded by multiple virtual speakers, sitting with their favourite band or as if they have the best seats in the movie theatre.
Gamers enjoy full realistic sound effects with the Creative PCIe Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio. Games sound superb with positional audio that is so accurate gamers can locate their enemies by sound.
